　　A ship in sail,
* z, b; L! N, y" Y/ k　　杨帆的航船，
　　an opening flower,
　　绽放的鲜花，
5 j) H( r: z% a, e9 x　　a town at night,
　　夜幕中的小镇，
7 l4 W# M5 i( l　　the song of the blackbird,
0 W6 L% d! |5 g' ]4 u　　优美的诗行，
　　a lovely poem,
# {2 N# E2 O8 l) o0 Y　　可爱的诗人
　　leaf shadows,
　　婆娑的树影，
　　a child’s grace,
: r1 `5 O& R+ F0 H" h3 [3 O( u　　孩童的烂漫，
* t8 ]% V6 c$ Q- V* k/ ~! C9 j　　the starry skies,

　　apple trees in spring,

, h% j" m" X* @　　sheep-bells on a hill,
　　山上的羊铃声，
　　a rippling stream,
　　一道潺潺流水，
　　a butterfly,

　　the crescent moon,

　　that evoke in us the thought of beauty —
) U% p1 s3 K# h　　这些使我们潜生美感的万千景象，音籁和词句
　　these are the drops of rain
　　that keep the human spirit from death by drought.
　　仿佛雨露般滋润着我们干涸的心田。
, F, l' k- S' ^8 M$ L/ C3 k　　They are a stealing and silent refreshment
　　它们悄然而来
6 ^7 U* x0 z9 J( m& Q7 c: U　　that we perhaps do not think about,
1 [6 P$ y5 q/ o  A+ B　　在我们不经意中荡涤尘寰
　　but which goes on all the time.
　　绵延不断
　　Beauty is the smile on the earth’s face,
2 S6 \% t$ d2 [. v  ?　　美是大地的笑容，
　　open to all, and needs but the eyes to see,
2 C) J- K' c- h& l3 \　　the mood to understand.
